After you receive this alert, the Pro Portfolio will buy 77 shares of Applied Materials (AMAT) at or near $489. Following the trade, we will own 395 AMAT shares, accounting for roughly 3.0% of the Pro Portfolio’s assets.

Coming off the comments we shared earlier this morning from Nvidia (NVDA) that its fiscal 2028 revenue will rise 70% year over year but it will still remain supply constrained, and HP’s (HPQ) reminder that memory supply remains tight, we are using the continued fall in AMAT shares in July and August to build up our position. Given the distance to our $800 price target, we are also lifting our rating to a One from Two. Our checkpoint for AMAT shares remains at $425, but as they move higher we will revisit that level.

As we make this move today, we’ll remind you that when AMAT reported its quarterly results earlier this month, management confirmed the favorable pricing environment and pointed to it helping lift margins further in the coming quarters. With tight chip capacity expected to remain in place through 2027 and into 2028, that favorable pricing environment should remain in place as well. That combination should help AMAT deliver another year of significant top- and bottom-line growth in oncoming quarters.

In considering today’s move, the reality is we are rebuilding the Portfolio’s exposure to AMAT after taking some very profitable AMAT shares off the table back in late June at $623.94.
