Portfolio holding Planet Labs (PL) on Tuesday said its subsidiary Planet Labs Germany had been awarded a Satellite Services tender by the German Federal Ministry of the Interior. This award marks Germany as the first civil government anywhere to acquire the firm’s dedicated Constellation Services operation. The firm sees this as potentially setting a new precedent for public-sector space procurement.
Under this agreement, the German Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy will coordinate and distribute high-resolution tasked imagery, nationwide Planet Mosaics, and advanced geospatial analytics to serve German civil authorities. In addition to providing exclusive dedicated satellite tasking capabilities, Planet Labs will deliver a Cloud native Software-as-a-Service and Platform Solution securely deployed on European cloud infrastructure.

– Smith & Wesson Brands (SWBI): Just a heads up. Portfolio holding Smith & Wesson declared a $0.13 quarterly dividend earlier this month for shareholders of record Sept. 17. That’s tomorrow. The stock will trade ex-dividend tomorrow. The dividend will be paid on Oct. 1. SWBI currently trades at a nice 4% dividend yield.
Trading
The portfolio intends to complete its exit from the long position in Alto Ingredients (ALTO) today. Given that the $11 Sept. 18 call that we sold for $1.65 a way back closed on Tuesday at $0.05, we are very close to maximizing that position’s potential. Hence, at these prices, there is risk to keeping that position open than there is reward available. The portfolio will be closing that position today if doing so can be done at a desirable price. Oh, and I should tell readership that If I had the cash available in this account, I would probably double the long position in Smith & Wesson (SWBI) for the 17th, scoop the dividend more fully and then get myself back out of that half afterwards if I could do so intelligently.
