As we continue to look for new candidates for the Portfolio, reviewing some commodity data, we see that cocoa prices are falling amid rising stockpiles signaling ample near-term supplies. That has potential implications for multiple companies, but when we think of cocoa prices we think about Hershey (HSY).
The question to be answered is whether those prices continue to fall back to levels we saw at the start of 2026 or if companies like Hershey will still face higher year-over-year cocoa costs in the first half of 2027. As tends to be the case with cocoa, the answer is going to come down to weather and growing conditions in Africa.Â

That gives us a reason to place Hershey back in the Bullpen. As we watch what develops on the cocoa front, we’ll be sure to do the same for sugar and dairy. Those three are the key inputs for Hershey’s core confectionary portfolio.
