New Ocular Therapeutix Target Price Amid Support

On Thursday, we covered the story reported by Bloomberg that drone delivery and logistics startup Zipline was in talks to raise roughly $1 billion in a funding round that would value the privately held company at about $20 billion.

We discussed why such a fundraise might benefit portfolio holding Ondas Inc (ONDS). On Friday, there is more news, not related to Zipline, but related to fundraising activities that could benefit $10K Portfolio holdings.

On Thursday, in-space mobility company Impulse Space announced a $308 million extension to its Series D round, bringing the combined round total to $808 million. This increases the firm’s implied valuation up to $5.6 billion from $4.3 billion after its fundraising efforts in June. Impulse Space says that the extra capital will go toward hiring, manufacturing and expanding ahead of a growing backlog of commercial and government contracts. Impulse Space now has 600 employees and more than 180 job openings. Any increased valuation for still-private companies in the space industry that do not directly compete against our names, we see as a positive. In this case, we think this benefits both Rocket Lab (RKLB) and Planet Labs (PL).

Additionally, on Thursday, it was reported that defense contractor Saronic Technologies, a company focused on developing and building unmanned maritime vessels, primarily for the U.S. Navy, but also for commercial customers, was thought to be seeking as much as $1.5 billion in new funding, This fundraise would be executed at a valuation of approximately $7.5 billion. While we see this as a positive, it is down from an implied valuation as recently as this past March. The financing, which is expected to be led by Kleiner Perkins. Saronic is raising these funds to build what could become the largest shipyard in the U.S. at the Port of Brownsville, Texas.

This news will likely impact drone makers of all types, such as Ondas Inc. This new Saronic facility is being designed to produce autonomous vessels up to 850 feet, potentially expandable to 1,200 feet or more. To put that in perspective, current U.S. Navy Destroyers are about 600 feet long. Nimitz class aircraft carriers are about 1,100 feet long. So, this company intends to be able to build uncrewed ships of all types and sizes for the U.S. Navy and other contractors. Operations are targeted to begin in 2028.

Other Portfolio News

Planet Labs (PL)

On Friday morning, analyst Kristine Liwag of Morgan Stanley reiterated her “hold” rating on PL as well as her $35 target price. Liwag is rated at five stars out of five stars by TipRanks. She has compiled a 61% success rate over the past two years while generating an average return of 24.1%. I think that Liwag is a fine analyst with a fine track record. What I don’t understand is how reiterating a $35 target on a stock trade close to $17, implying a gain of more than 100%, does not warrant a “buy” or buy-equivalent rating. Just a kid thinking out loud.

Rocket Lab (Rocket Lab)

On Thursday, analyst Jeff Van Rhee of Craig-Hallum reiterated his “buy” rating on RKLB without setting a target price. Van Rhee is rated at four stars out of five stars by TipRanks. He has compiled just a 42% success rate over the past two years while generating an average return of 7.2%.

Trading

Readers will see on this chart of Ocular Therapeutix (OCUL) that the stock in late August into September hit resistance twice at the “halfway back” point or 50% retracement level of the early December 2025 to mid-February 2026 sell-off. This formed a small double-top pattern, which should be bearish. That said, this week, the stock has found some support at its 50-day SMA and 200-day SMA that are running together.

We expect professional managers to defend the stock in the $9.80s. Should they break and run, the portfolio will be forced to reduce exposure as well. In the meantime, we are going to try to play on this expectation, add a few shares here and raise our target price from $11 to $14.
