I’m Snapping Up More SoFi, Two More Stocks

Analyst Andrew Jeffrey of William Blair reiterated this morning his “buy” rating on portfolio holding SoFi Technologies (SOFI) without setting a target price. Jeffrey is rated at five stars out of five at TipRanks. Over the past two years, he has compiled a 56% success rate with an average return of 14.1%. Jeffrey, who is respected as a “top eight percent” analyst, likes portfolio holding SoFi Technologies for several reasons tied to SoFi’s rising place in the financial community.

According to the material provided, Jeffrey views SOFI as a disruptor in consumer finance, operating within what is a large addressable market. He sees SOFI as having an opportunity to reach tens of millions of members in what is still a largely untapped market and possessing an ability to materially expand average revenue per user.

That should be a net driver as the company improves upon its long-term returns on tangible common equity. Jeffrey also believes that SOFI will likely be able to manage an apparent rising interest rate environment effectively. He sees the SoFi as having a certain pricing power in personal loans that would offset funding cost pressure, thus preserving net interest income.
Jeffrey has noticed SOFI’s ability to sustain growth in membership as well as growth simultaneously in product sales. The firm has been effective in cross-selling its services, and in operating leverage from scaling the business. This combination, according to the analyst, underpins his rationale in showing confidence in SoFi’s long-term earnings potential and justifies his “buy” recommendation.

Trading

In late August and early September, this portfolio sold 50 shares of Ondas Inc (ONDS) at an average price of $7.925. The sales were of 25 shares each at $8.33 and $7.52. The portfolio intends to buy back a few of those shares now that the shares have traded off. We also need to add to our long position in Planet Labs (PL) now that the stock is trading with a $16 handle. Missing that opportunity to make that sale at $20-plus last week due to the time lag in between the time an article is written and can be published is really starting to smart with this one.
