Buying More of This Small-Cap Name as Shares Fall Under Pressure

We had to wait for Tuesday morning, but the portfolio we finally got its price for the 100 shares of Ocular Therapeutix (OCUL) that we’ve been trying to sell since last Friday’s closing bell. That allowed the portfolio to add the 10 shares of Velo3D (VELO) that we wanted to add. By the way, see below — VELO is in the news.

On Tuesday, with Ondas Inc (ONDS) also trading higher on news, the portfolio is going to make a sale at LIFO profit and put some of that dough into our long position in Alto Ingredients (ALTO), which is trading lower on Tuesday. The portfolio purchased its last 50 shares of ONDS at an average price of $7.015 last Monday and Tuesday. That should leave us well positioned going into the portion of earnings season that will impact this portfolio and leave enough of a cash position to respond in real time as necessary.

Portfolio News

Ondas Inc (ONDS)

On Monday, Ondas Inc announced that the firm had landed a $6.9 million order from the Australian Department of Defense for its DTIM Single Operator Counter-sUAS Kits. This deal was secured in partnership with in-country distributor HIFraser. The order was formally awarded to DZYNE Technologies, which is now part of the Ondas family of companies. The DZYNE technologies and employees are now operating within the Ondas Sentinel segment, which is the firm’s U.S. defense division.

Planet Labs (PL)

On Monday, Planet Labs (PL) U.K. announced the opening of the firm’s new office in central London. This marks a milestone in Planet’s commitment to the United Kingdom as a partner within the growing space economy. The office will serve as a national hub for AI and analytics partnerships.

Velo3D (VELO)

On Tuesday morning, Velo3D opened the firm’s new Livermore Production Campus, Forge 1, which is one of North America’s largest metal additive manufacturing facilities. The almost 289,000 square-foot facility complements Velo3D’s Fremont headquarters, which will remain the company’s center for research and development, applications engineering, process development, customer collaboration and qualification. 270,000 square feet of that 289,000 is devoted to production space with an infrastructure designed to support more than 40 large-format metal additive manufacturing systems. Over time, room will be made for more than 100 such systems.
