Baseball Trivia 2

Dougie nailed it right away with the Triples/Home Runs question.

Here’s a bonus trivia question. Ron Hunt of the Dodgers/Expos/Mets/Giants/Cardinals was once the all-time MLB “hit by pitch” leader. When Hunt retired after the 1974 season, he had been hit by 243 pitches. Three batters have now been beaned more times. Name them.

Baseball Trivia

No MLB batter has hit 20 or more triples in a season since 2007. Since 1950, only three batters have hit 20 or more triples and less than 10 home runs in a single season. Name them.

Hint: All three happened between the years 1985 and 2000.

Palantir Warning

Readers will see that the Inverse Head & Shoulders pattern of bullish reversal that we had talked about in the past worked like a charm. That said, shares of Palantir Technologies (PLTR) have tested their 21-day EMA from above for four consecutive trading sessions.

We have two opposing forces staring us in the face. We have an imminent “golden crossover” of the stock’s 200-day SMA by its 50-day SMA. However, we also have a pretty bearish-looking daily MACD below this chart.

My thoughts? If the 21-day EMA fails, the swing crowd will turn on this stick and so will I, to a degree. PLTR is at a fork in the road, friends.

Programming Note

I have a noon appointment that I have to attend. Will be quiet for about an hour. Hopefully no more than that, but you never know.

SpaceX About to Tumble?

I am not sure what I see just yet with SpaceX (SPCX). I do think that I see two developing technical patterns and both of those patterns tend to produce bearish reversals.

Here is what looks like a developing Rising Wedge. It does seem to be closing rather quickly. I see the crossover of the 50-day SMA (blue line) by the 21-day EMA (green line). We call that a swing trader’s golden cross. That is often considered to be a bullish signal. That said, the signal is far less reliable when the blue line is falling as it is here. The lower trendline of the wedge would be the downside pivot in this case.

Now, I see a potential Double Top pattern developing with a downside pivot of $130. That’s the central low-point of the pattern. Can we trust it? I am not sure that I trust anything anymore. Both Relative Strength and the daily MACD are set up rather bullishly. That said, two potential patterns of bearish reversal, even if they are still incomplete, probably should not be ignored.

Good Morning, Let’s Get Moving!

Dougie is off for a few of days this week. It is I, Sarge. I will be your tour guide for at least today and tomorrow. God willing. Let’s begin.

Equity index futures are trading in the hole. We have the stronger-than-expected August jobs report in the rear-view mirror. This increased the likelihood for increased short-term interest rates to be announced as soon as next week. We also have a growing trade war with Canada to contend with as well as an ongoing kinetic war with Iran that is forcing oil prices higher.

That all said, let’s do something to get the blood flowing. I am going to do some push-ups, do some crunches and lift some weights. Then, I’ll walk the dog. You kids do you. Just don’t do nothing. Down some “joe” and get moving. We’re going to need energy before this day, this week and this month closes. That we know. So do something that helps generate some energy, both physical and cognitive in nature. I would also suggest doing something to feed one’s spirituality but again, you do you.

Alright. Lock and load, kids. They are likely to come at us from all sides today. Helmets, flak jackets, clean socks, drinking water, full battle rattle and gas masks on the hip. Everyone out on the sidewalk in an hour, ready to rock. That is all.
