After you receive this Alert, the Pro Portfolio will make the following trades:
— Buy 100 shares of Boeing (BA) at or near $216.75. Following the trade, we will own 658 BA shares, accounting for roughly 2.3% of the Pro Portfolio’s assets.
— Buy 195 shares of Marvell Technology (MRVL) at or near $230. Following the trade, we will own 650 MRVL shares, accounting for roughly 2.4% of the Pro Portfolio’s assets.
— Buy 1,065 shares of Neostellar Capital (NSLR) at or near $11.25. Following the trade, we will own 19,850 NSLR shares, accounting for roughly 3.6% of the Pro Portfolio’s assets.
Following a much-weaker-than-expected June CPI report, which included core inflation falling to 2.6% on a year-over-year basis, compared to 2.9% in May and the 2.8% market consensus, we are putting some capital to work this morning, taking advantage of the recent selloffs in each of these three holdings.
Also influencing this decision was the pre-testimony comments from Fed Chair Warsh that touted the strength of the U.S. economy and the benefits coming from business investment. To that we can add, Ericsson’s (ERIC) outlook for ramping networking demand as well as the prospects for aircraft orders for Boeing at next week’s Farnborough Airshow. With NSLR shares, our view is the market is overly focused on its position in OpenAI, and not giving it enough credit for others, such as TensorWave, Vast Data, Whoop, and ClickHouse.
Our moves are relatively modest ones, considering our opening comments this morning about IBM’s (IBM) earnings and what they say about potential market volatility in the coming weeks, and what the potential for a renewed U.S.-Iran war could mean for oil prices and supply chain headwinds. Subsequent to these trades, the Portfolio’s cash levels will still be above 8%, leaving us ample firepower to remain opportunistic as we navigate the coming weeks.
With the prospect for the flow-through for higher oil prices to drive at least a partial rebound in gas prices, shares of Costco (COST) and TJX (TJX) land on our shopping radar following their steep drops over the last few weeks.
As we make today’s moves, we will reset our checkpoint for NSLR to $10 from $11, and for MRVL to $200 from $220, as we maintain our $190 checkpoint for BA.
(Please note that we are looking to execute these trades at or near the share price mentioned above. Once the trade is completed, subscribers can see the trade’s executed price here. Be sure to toggle the chart to sort by Purchase Date.)
At the time of publication, TheStreet Pro Portfolio was long BA, COST, MRVL, NSLR, and TJX.
