The market action is strong on Monday morning, with breadth running at 7,000 gainers to just 1,950 decliners. The Russell 2000 small-cap index IWM is outperforming with a gain of 1.5%, while the Magnificent Seven MAGS group hits new all-time highs with a rise of 0.6%.
While there wasn’t any major news flow this morning, market participants are optimistic about a flood of earnings and economic news this week. The bears have their laundry list of negatives, but they are being crushed by the positive price action.
Most of my favorite smaller stocks will report earnings in the next two weeks. Rather than pick a new Stock of the Week, I want to review 10 upcoming reports that should see significant movement on the news.
First Solar FSLR 10/29 PM — The solar sector has been acting poorly on concerns that Trump would win the election and cut some of the tax credits that drive sales. However, FSLR is primarily a domestic manufacturer, and if tariffs are imposed on China, it will benefit them. The company is expected to earn $13.45 per share in 2024 and $21.09 in 2025 but has a P/E of just 16. If some of the political issues are addressed on the call, the direction of the stock could change.
Uber UBER 10/31 AM — Uber has sold off on worries about competition in the robotaxi area from Tesla TSLA. The company will likely address that issue on the earnings call. Analysts are optimistic about solid numbers.
Hims & Hers Health HIMS 11/4 PM — Hims has been under pressure due to concerns about possible FDA restrictions on compounding of GLP-1 obesity drugs. The company will likely address that on the earnings call and discuss strong growth in other areas.
ADMA Biologics ADMA 11/6 PM — ADMA has traded lower after the resignation of its auditors. There has not been any clarity about the issue, but the company is likely to address it on its earnings conference call and may be close to appointing a new CPA firm. If that concern is lifted, the company should have robust growth, in my view.
Xeris Biopharma XERS 11/7 AM — Xeris has been acting strongly recently as expectations are building for another strong quarter. The potential kicker is news about possible partnerships and progress on developing a new product in a $1 billion market.
Humacyte HUMA 11/7 AM — Humacyte is still waiting for FDA approval. It has had some excellent news on additional indications and appears to have stabilized financing while it waits. Management should have some update on the FDA soon.
Core Scientific CORZ 11/6 PM — Core Scientific has been looking very good technically and recently announced that a customer exercised an option for additional High Powered Computing services. Management is likely to talk about new opportunities that are developing.
Sensus Healthcare SRTS 11/7 PM — Sensus Healthcare trades very thin and has been moving around randomly as it awaits its next report. Management hinted last quarter that it is on track for another good quarter, but the market is in wait-and-see mode.
OppFi OPFI 11/7 AM — OppFi had a great second quarter and raised revenue and estimate guidance. It is a thin stock trading with a P/E of just 8. The potential for a solid beat and positive comments is quite good.
Delcath Systems DCTH 11/8 AM. Delcath is another thinly traded name that just raised guidance and has received a large milestone payment. The company is on the brink of substantial revenue growth and should have an upbeat report.
All these names are very high risk, but they should provide elevated volatility and trading opportunities. I will be focused on entry points after the news is released.
Please note that due to factors including low market capitalization and/or insufficient public float, we consider several of the names mentioned to be small-cap stocks. You should be aware that such stocks are subject to more risk than stocks of larger companies, including greater volatility, lower liquidity and less publicly available information, and that postings such as this one can have an effect on their stock prices.
At the time of publication, Rev Shark was long FSLR, UBER, HIMS, ADMA, XERS, HUMA, HUMAW, CORZ, SRTS, OPFI and DCTH.
