Earnings Preview
TriQuint Semiconductor (TQNT) will post its first-quarter results after today's market close. This Alert is a preview of the company's numbers, and we are not recommending any trades for the model portfolio.
TriQuint is expected to earn $0.15 a share in the quarter, up from $0.12 a year ago, on $220.1 million of revenue. As management stated last quarter, the company is trying to add capacity to keep up with customer demand. Even though, this could limit upside potential in the quarter, TriQuint remains leveraged to growing demand for smartphones and tablet computers.
Management will host a conference call at 5 p.m. EDT that investors can access at 888-813-6582, using the passcode 59216262. A replay will also be available for a week at 800-642-1687 using the same passcode. Both the live call and a replay can be accessed at the company's website: www.triquint.com.
On the call, investors will be interested to hear if TriQuint faces any lingering disruption from the tragedy in Japan. And even though management does not usually discuss individual customers by name, we will listen for any guidance from management about demand trends from Foxconn, which assembles Apple's (AAPL) iPhone and iPad.
The stock was recently trading at $13.39 recently, and we maintain that TriQuint can move back up toward the mid-teens in the coming months.
